Holy Cross Church Welcomes You |
How do Anglicans worship? The worship of the Anglican Church follows the general liturgy, or worship ritual, of traditional Christianity using the glorious language of the English book of Common Prayer. Visitors often comment on the devout nature of our worship, combined with lively singing. First and foremost, our worship is a joyful celebration of the love of God and His Son Jesus Christ. Our ways are ancient and our faith is unchanging. We stand on the Rock of Jesus Christ as He has been made known to us in the teaching of the Holy Apostles, the Holy Church, and the Holy Bible. We stand on this rock in the midst of the turbulent sea of the ever-changing world around us, and we offer you this firm foundation in order that you may have the peace which the world cannot give; the peace of which passes man's understanding. The Most Rev. Louis Falk |

Who are Anglicans? Anglicans are Christians who accept the truth of the Bible and historic Creeds of the early Church [see We believe], and whose traditions of the early Church, and whose traditions of worship have their roots in both the ancient Church and the English Church. Although a relatively small church in the United States, Anglicans worldwide number many millions. The Anglican Church in America (ACA) is a Province of the Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC), part of the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, maintaining a valid and historic Apostolic Order and Succession, instituted by Jesus Christ. The word "Anglican" refers to our spiritual heritage and roots in the Church of England. |

What can I expect at Holy Cross? *A caring community of Christians happy to welcome others. *Orthodox Christians who know that love is the first and greatest commandment--without which all doctrine is meaningless. *Devout, joyful worship in the eloquent language of the traditional church. Refreshments following the service, allowing time for parishioners to meet and greet one another in fellowship. *The center of our celebration, the Eucharist [or Holy Communion] which conveys God's love for us, who are unworthy but thankful for His Mercy. Any Christian baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost and who accepts the Real Presence of Christ our Savior in the sacrament is welcome to come to the altar. *We welcome visitors and are happy to share our worship and faith within our community. |

Who Oversees the Parish? Locally, a vestry, or church council, is elected by the congregation. The chief officer is called the senior (or rector's) warden. Our property is owned by the congregation. We follow the New Testament order of ministry [which is male in nature]: Bishop, Priest, and Deacon. The Bishop, who is also elected, oversees a number of parishes. |
